Self-Love During Quarantine

Isn’t it crazy to think about where we were just a few weeks ago compared to now? COVID-19 has rocked our world and created challenges that no one could have ever seen coming. The unknown can cause anxiety and each and every one of us is experiencing this in one way or another at the moment.

Let’s take a much needed break from all that! Let’s control what we can control.

We know that taking care of ourselves first and foremost goes a long way toward our state of mind. Doing so leads to being calmer, more kind, and just in general better solo AND socially. There’s no better time than the now to practice self love! Check out our favorite ways to relax and feel like our best self, both inside and out.

Detox Bath

The benefits of a basic warm bath are wonderful no matter how you go about it. A bath can relax your mind and body, easing you into a more calm and meditative state. Do what works best for you. Does music calm you or silence? Add some background music. Have any essential oils or epsom salts? Enhance your bath by using them. Having a glass of wine or lemon water? You get the point.

We can fortunately find ingredients already within our home to create a detox bath that will help balance stress hormones and ph levels. (yay!)  Check out the simple recipe.

  • Epsom Salt
  • ½ Cup Baking Soda
  • 10 (ish) drops of essential oil of your choice
  • Soak for at least 30 minutes

Gentle Muscle Massage and Exfoliation

After soaking in the bath, your skin and muscles will be perfectly primed for light massage and gentle exfoliation. Both of these aid in the detoxification process in their own way. Gentle lymphatic massage aids in ridding the body of toxins and unwanted waste that gets in the way of our ability to fight infections and disease. In short, it's fabulous for our immune system. Skin exfoliation encourages this same process on another level with skin, encouraging cell turnover and also aids in lymphatic drainage.

Yoga and Meditation

Seriously, if you’ve never taken the time to practice yoga and meditation, now is the time. These repetitive days and repetitive scenery often being stuck at home can be difficult for our minds to adapt to. Even those individuals who seemingly never suffer from mental health issues can have a tough time if they don’t have an outlet. Deep breathing, stretching the body and giving our mind a break from it all can make all the difference as we take on these days slowly but surely.

Remember, that we are here for you and everyone is in this together. We may not all agree on each and every aspect of it, but we can all agree on the things we are missing and the tragic moments we’ve all been forced to feel. Take care of yourself, and take care of others from afar by simply checking in and reminding them that you are still here.
