Top 3 Common Naturals Ways to Handle Oily Skin

Oily skin causes that greasy appearance on our face and although oil provides moisture to our skin and keeps it healthy, sometimes too much can create results we don't that are less than ideal. This is a very common condition and at times, can be very frustrating to deal with. One of the most annoying issues concerning the excess of oil is how easily it can lead to clogged pores and acne.

There is no simple answer as to why our skin creates excess oil. Genetic conditions, environmental factors and even our diet affect the skin and contribute to excess oil.

Let's share some insight with these three (3) natural ways to deal with oily skin and prevent breakouts:

  1. Be gentle: Using strong scrubs and loofahs can do the complete opposite of helping oily skin. Unnecessary pressure forces the skin to believe it has to work harder than it should and causes the skin to produce even more oil, so be gentle!
  2. Rely on water: Rinse your face at least 3 times a day and avoid using soaps with fragrances that might have the same effect as scrubbing too hard.
  3. Your breakfast can help: Oatmeal and coffee may reduce oily skin. Oatmeal has an anti-inflammatory effect and absorbs excess oils. Consider a mask using ground oatmeal, honey, and hot water. Allow it to dry on the face for 10 - 15 minutes and rinse, voila!

Consider this recommendation: Use fresh, organic coffee grounds as a scrub to clear away dead skin cells and unclog the pores. This allows new skin to absorb the natural oil and remove any dirt within skin cells.

Bonus tip: Always watch your diet. What we eat has a direct effect on our skin. Nutrients from food sources can help reduce the probability of having oily skin. Consider foods such as cucumbers, whole grains, nuts, bananas, spinach, avocados, oranges,  and coconut water. These will not only improve how you feel but improve the skin overall.

Hope you enjoyed these quick tips for oily skin conditions.  Always try to be natural first before resorting to chemical products on your skin.
