Beauty Tips as Shared by our Grandmothers

Age is nothing but a number. Growing old is not a reason to stop taking care of yourself. If any, aging should all the more push you to keep choosing things that enhance your overall well-being.

Exercise

Aging gracefully is truly a beautiful thing, but it’s not the easiest thing in the world. Putting yourself first can sometimes be a struggle in a world full of responsibilities, but with the right attitude and determination, nothing is impossible. It’s never too early to start forming habits that can help you live better later on. Here are some tips to staying radiant and beautiful straight from our grandmothers:

1. Stay active as much as you can

The last thing you want after your retirement is to sit around all day and do nothing. Moving your body holds multiple benefits in keeping you feeling and looking young. It’s important to remember though that you no longer have the body of a 20-year old so be cautious of what activities you take on.

Whether it’s walking in the park, taking a dip in the pool, or spending your precious time gardening, you’re surely giving yourself some love by simply moving.

2. Stimulate your mind daily

The brain is an ever-evolving organ. With enough mental practice, you can retard the progress of cognitive decline that typically comes with age. Find something new to learn everyday, play games that stimulate your intellect, solve some puzzles, and read as much as you can.

There are numerous ways to exercise the mind so make sure to not skip on it. You’ll thank yourself in the years to come. Trust us: it makes a world of difference!

3. Find things to do in your community

One vital aspect of living a good life is living one with a purpose. When retirement comes, that sense of purpose may drift away now that you have all the time in the world to sit around and do nothing. To avoid feeling purposeless, look for something you can do in your community

It could be attending group exercise classes, volunteering for various charity work, being an active member of your church, or helping lead organizations that tickle your interest. Age should never stop you from living a life you’re proud of.

4. Reach out for natural skincare products

Natural skincare products are free from chemicals that may harm your skin. Plus, going natural means showering your skin with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory products to keep your skin as youthful as possible.

It’s important to show your skin some love no matter the age. In fact, the older you get, the more you have to be conscious of what you put on your skin. By choosing only natural ingredients, you are well on your way to delaying the signs of aging.

5. Choose what makes you happy. Always.

Do you love dancing? Get into dance classes or even keep dancing in your living room. Do you love to cook? Host family get-togethers to show your loved ones what new recipes you’ve whipped up. Do you love music? Blast on your favorite playlist everyday!

If you find something you love and you do it everyday, you’ll find that it’s a life worth living. When you are truly happy, it shows from the inside out.

Stimulate your mind

Beauty is more than just looking your best, but it’s also about leading a healthy and happy life.  It’s not about the years in your life, but always about the life in your years. It’s never too late to build habits you can thank yourself in all the years to come. By taking care of yourself today, you hand yourself the luxury to keep enjoying all your tomorrows. As cliche as it may sound, you truly glow differently when you’re happy.
